I was compiling a quick-list with the Joomla! 1.6/1.7 resources my developers and I used when we were converting ccInvoices and ccNewsletter to be Joomla! 1.6+ compatible, and thought the list might be useful to others.
The resources are actually easy to find, you just need to know where to look (and who to follow on twitter). But for those in a hurry, here is our own "Joomla! 1.7 Resources" document.
We have just released ccInvoices 1.4.1, which adds compatibility for Joomla! 1.6/1.7 to our user friendly joomla invoicing/billing extension. This is a release candidate, which means there are no known bugs, but we advice caution (and a Joomla! backup) when upgrading.
Although we have extensively tested this new version, it is entirely possible...
We have just released ccNewsletter 1.2.1, which adds compatibility for Joomla! 1.6/1.7 to our user friendly newsletter extension. This is a release candidate, which means there are no known bugs, but we advice caution (and a Joomla! backup) when upgrading.
Although we have extensively tested this new version, it is entirely possible that there are still remaining bugs. As always, we are available to timely solve any issues...
Chill Creations will not release any Joomla! extension for Joomla! 1.6. This is less dramatic as it may sound, and in the following article I'll try to explain my motivations.
The most important reason has little to do with Joomla! 1.6 actually, but with what my goals are for Chill Creations. Also, it is important to note that Joomla! 1.7 is expected to be released in July 2011, and our decision is not for all future versions, just Joomla! 1.6.
On Saturday April 2 and Sunday April 3, the Dutch Joomla! days will be held in Doorn, the Netherlands.
I can really encourage any Dutch Joomla! user to visit these days! The presentations that will be held sound extremely informative and are well selected to please a wide range of Joomla! users. A few well known Joomla! enthusiasts will also be attending, including Joomla! priest Brian Teeman and
You can now get your hands on a release candidate for Joomla! 1.6. But it's actually not that stable, so don't use it on production websites just yet.
When Joomla! 1.6 Beta 14 and 15 where released a few weeks ago, there was lots of buzz about a Joomla! 1.6 Release Candidate before Christmas. Well, here it is, Joomla! 1.6 RC!
As Joomla! 1.6 is reaching completion, the Joomla! core team has opened the "Joomla! Idea Pool". It is a website based on Uservoice, collecting ideas for future versions of Joomla!
What is extremely cool about this site, is that everyone (including you and me!) can now suggest new features for future Joomla versions, and vote on them! You can now have a direct input into the future of Joomla!.
Now that Joomla! 1.6 beta is released, different community members have posted video and text tutorials about the new features in Joomla! 1.6. One of those community members is Joomla! 1.6 lead developer Andrew-Eddie, which posted at least 9 video's. In this post, you will find an overview of the most interesting Joomla! 1.6 video and text tutorials.
The tutorials are a great way to understand the changes in Joomla! 1.6, before you actually install it.
In case you did not notice, the Joomla! project has released version 1.5.18 and Joomla! 1.6 Beta 3.
For Joomla! 1.5: you can use Akeeba Backup to create a backup, then Sam's Update Manager to update the Joomla! 1.5 websites you manage to 1.5.18. You can also read our tutorial on
In our website statistics I noticed that some users are searching for a download link to the latest version of Joomla! 1.6. If you want to give Joomla! 1.6 pre-beta a test drive, there is a really easy way to get your hands on the download, just a click, no SVN clients necessary.
Let me tell you how you can download the latest version of Joomla! 1.6 Alpha.
