The real reason why we love Joomla!

How to update/upgrade Joomla! 1.5 Joomla! is not (just) a framework for building ad-hoc web applications. Joomla! is a successful attempt to allow everyone, from Joe Average to Jack Sitebuilder to Acme Corp- to differentiate, build a website easily and succeed. Joomla! is an enabler of success. And that requires being in touch with your user base and iterating. - By Nicholas K. Dionysopoulos from Akeeba Backup.com

Virtuemart 2.0 review and screenshots

virtuemart_logoA close to stable version of Virtuemart 2.0 was released recently, and I was surprised to be a little impressed! Virtuemart has a history of slow development but it looks like that is changing. We will have to wait for the stable version to make any definitive conclusions, but at least the future looks good.  Read on to view a few screenshots of Virtuemart 2.0 and my comments. I didn't have the time to dive into the code or new features, so this review will focus primarily on interface, usability and... eye candy! Do note, I would not advice using it for an important e-commerce project until its stable. Better to have a look at stable

Joomla! 1.6/1.7 extension developer resources

How to update/upgrade Joomla! 1.5 I was compiling a quick-list with the Joomla! 1.6/1.7 resources my developers and I used when we were converting ccInvoices and ccNewsletter to be Joomla! 1.6+ compatible, and thought the list might be useful to others.  The resources are actually easy to find, you just need to know where to look (and who to follow on twitter). But for those in a hurry, here is our own "Joomla! 1.7 Resources" document.

No Joomla! 1.6 extensions from Chill Creations

Indev Joomla! extensionsChill Creations will not release any Joomla! extension for Joomla! 1.6. This is less dramatic as it may sound, and in the following article I'll try to explain my motivations.   The most important reason has little to do with Joomla! 1.6 actually, but with what my goals are for Chill Creations. Also, it is important to note that Joomla! 1.7 is expected to be released in July 2011, and our decision is not for all future versions, just Joomla! 1.6.

Joomla! Virtuemart vs. Magento
