Coding a Newsletter

If you do not use the default template, but want to develop one yourself, you should use only minimal CSS, because not all e-mail readers support it! You can read the article's here below with more explanations about coding a Newsletter:

http://groundwire.org/support/articles/css-and-email-newsletters

http://www.reachcustomersonline.com/2010/01/23/09.27.00/

"Do not rely on external (<link rel="stylesheet">) or embedded style sheets (those contained within the <style> tag above the <body> tag). This is the most important thing to avoid. Many email services cut everything above the body tag and disable external style sheets."

What I personally do: use simple inline CSS, sometimes a table, and only images for nice graphics.

In ccNewsletter, create a new newsletter, call it "Template backup". Then completely change the template the way you want it. Then every time you send a newsletter, in the newsletter overview, use the "copy" button to copy the "Template Backup" to your new newsletter.

Sending a Newsletter

Before sending a newsletter, make sure that you configured ccNewsletter with the right settings.

To send a newsletter select the newsletter you want to send by checking the selection box for that specific newsletter and than click on the "Send" button in the upper right corner.

You will see a information box that shows you information about hosting companies and there policy's. When you're ok with that click on the "Yes" link and you will see an other screen with the email addresses where the newsletter has been send to.

To send a test newsletter you can use the same method as shown here above but instead of clicking on the "Send" button you need to click on the "Test" button. You will now receive a test newsletter in you're configured email address.
