A ccNewsletter subscription check-box can easily be integrated within Virtuemart 1.1. When integrated, the user will see a newsletter subscription check-box in the Virtuemart registration form (during checkout of the order).
To implement the newsletter subscription check-box, you must add that field to the Virtuemart User Fields.
- Make sure you have installed the latest version of ccNewsletter
- Make sure you have installed the latest version of Virtuemart 1.1
- Go to Components > Virtuemart > Admin > Manage User Fields
- First, we will create a field-set delimiter (a box) to show the newsletter subscription check-box in
- Click "New" in the toolbar
- Field type, select "=== Fieldset delimiter ==="
- Field name, enter "newsletter box", it will be changed to another format automatically
- Field title, enter "Newsletter subscription"
- Description, keep empty
- Show in account maintenance: No
- The other fields can keep their default values
- Click "Save"
- Create the newsletter subscription check-box
- Click "New" in the toolbar
- Field type, select "Newsletter Subscription (ccNewsletter)"
- Field name, enter "Newsletter subscription", it will be changed to another format automatically
- Field title, enter "Subscribe to our newsletter?"
- Description, add a few reasons for people to subscribe to the newsletter
- Show in account maintenance: No
- The other fields can keep their default values
- Click "Save"
- Now you will need to reorder the box and newsletter subscription check-box to a location lower in the registration form.
- In the "Manage User Fields" overview, scroll to the right and find the "Reorder" and "A > Z" columns.
- In the "A > Z" column, enter "26" in the vm_newsletter_box field
- Now, in the "A > Z" column, enter "27" in the vm_newsletter_subscription field
- Then, click the little disk icon in the "A > Z" column
- In the default Virtuemart user registration form, the newsletter section would now be at the bottom of the form, just above the "Send Registration" box.
- If you have already done modifications to the Virtuemart registration form, you will need to play with the ordering values in the "A > Z" column until the newsletter section is placed at a good location
- You can now view the newsletter check-box in the Virtuemart registration form in your website!
