Updating ccInvoices

Updating to minor versions of our extensions

Moving to a new minor version of our extensions (x.x.X third number changes, from version 1.2.1 to version 1.2.2 for example) is easy. Most of the time these versions only have bug fixes, small new features and improvements. You can view changes in a certain new version in the extensions changelog. You can update to new minor version of our extensions patch update (x.x.X) without hesitation. We always do advise creating a backup with Akeeba Backup first.   • Please note that when updating or upgrading all custom modifications you might have done will be or can be lost.
  • If you have overridden any of the ccnewsletter module templates in the theme and has issues with it, these templates should be merged with the updated ones.
  • Updating to minor versions is simple, just install the new version over the old version, use our built-in Live Update function first or us the Joomla! Extension Manager.

Updating to major versions of our extensions

When updating to major versions you always need to do a little investigation first! Major releases almost always have large new features or changes which might impact your workflow or current installation. We advise reading the extensions changelog to see if these changes impact you in any way. Examples of updating to major releases are:

  • x.X.x second number changes, from version 1.2.1 to version 1.3.0
  • X.x.x first number changes, from version 1.2.1 to version 2.0.0

  1. Important notice 1: Custom modifications – Please note that when updating or upgrading all custom modifications you might have done will be lost unless or can be lost. Do take proper measurements before consulting for support.
    If you have overridden any of the ccnewsletter module templates in the theme and has issues with it, these templates should be merged with the updated ones.
  2. Important notice 2 : Updating to extensions major versions should be simple most of the times, we request if there are special things (like run a migration tool) you need to consult the extension’s download page & Changelog page. Updating to new major Joomla! versions

Minor versions:
You can update to new Joomla! minor updates (x.x.X third number changes, from version 1.2.1 to version 1.2.2 for example) without hesitation. There are almost never conflicts between our extensions and new minor versions of Joomla!.

Major versions:
Moving from Joomla! 3.x to Joomla! 4.x to Joomla! 5.x should never be done without extensive testing and research.We clearly communicate the Joomla! version supported by our ccExtensions on our product pages, in our Changelog. Please note that when updating or upgrading all custom modifications you might have done will be or can be lost. Take proper measurements.
