Installing and uninstalling ccNewsletter

Before installation please check that the below system requirements are met. You can ask your webhoster if the server you are working on supports them. You can also find the information in the Joomla! backend under Help > System info.

  • General requirements
    • Joomla! 4.x (latest versions)
    • PHP 8.1.0+
    • MySQL 8

Note 1: Support for PHP 7 has ended November 28, 2022.
Note 2: Support for Joomla 3x ends August 17, 2023. We strongly advise to migrate to Joomla 4 before that time to continue being supported.
Note 3: VirtueMart -> We strongly advised to use only VM3 + J3 or VM4 + J3 or J4 ( We do NOT recommend VM3 on J4)
Note 4: As is the case with all minor or major extensions updates, we always advise creating a backup with Akeeba Backup first.
Note 5: (Needless to say, but doing so anyway) Support for these versions of Joomla! (2.5 & 1.7, 1.6 ) ended on respectively between December 31, 2012 and December 31, 2014. Still on those ? Do plan to move to Joomla! 4x.

Also please note that Joomla 3.10 support ends on August 17, 2023, although as its now over + 21 months since the release of Joomla 3.10 and 4.0 , Joomla 3 will only get security releases until ending. Our extensions are backward compatible with Joomla! 3x but support will also ends August 2023 . Joomla 3x and PHP 8 are not well together and you should be planning or be in the process of migrating to the latest version of Joomla.Joomla! provides resources to help with the migration on their documentation site https://www.joomla.org/

  • Extension specific requirements:
    • cciDEAL: Virtuemart 4.x, PHP module OpenSSL version 3.0. , PHP module allow_url_fopen (for some accounts)(-> source: https://www.php.net/manual/en/openssl.requirements.php)
    • ccNewsletter: PHP module mb_strlen()
    • ccInvoices: If you want to use Stripe in ccInvoices 4.0.3 +, PHP 8  is a hard requirement

Please note that support for PHP 7.4 has ended November 2022.
Final note: We do strongly advise to upgrade, do consult above system requirements.
Always consult the FAQ

Installing ccNewsletter

Installation of ccNewsletter is rather easy, and the same as most Joomla! extensions.

  1. Download the extension from the ccNewsletter downloads on our website
  2. Login to your Joomla! website administrator
  3. Go to Extensions > Extensions Manager
  4. Select browse, in the “Upload Package File” section
  5. Find and select the ccNewsletter .zip file on your computer
  6. Click on “Upload file & Install”
  7. ccNewsletter should now be installed and visible under Components > ccNewsletter

After the installation, please continue with the ccNewsletter manual, about adding support for the extensions you want to use.

After you installed ccNewsletter it’s possible that you will get the message “JFTP::rename: Bad response”. In that case your folder permissions are not right. Change them to 777 to install the software and after installation you should turn back the folder permissions to 755

Uninstalling ccNewsletter

If, for whatever reason, you want to uninstall ccNewsletter, it can be easily done by following the below steps.

  1. Login to your Joomla! website administrator
  2. Go to Extensions > Extensions Manager > Manage
  3. Find ccNewsletter and check the checkbox
  4. Click “Uninstall” in the top right
  5. ccNewsletter is now uninstalled. Please note that some files and tables in the database are not removed by the uninstall, so you can install ccNewsletter again later, without losing that data.
